I am proposing a new term: NAGFAM
Netflix, Amazon, Google, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft.

Yay or nay?

I never really understood why Netflix got lumped in with the other software companies. Sure, they were printing profits for a long time, but that’s quickly changing. Feels like FAAG all have “platforms” that allow others to build businesses on top, and perhaps Microsoft belongs in that bucket too, but not Netflix.

like

Yeah Netflix doesn’t really belong

Cant actually put Netflix in this list. They dont have a coherent strategy, customer development or pricing one. Most of their decisions these days are whimsical, very symbolic of a great organization towards its decline. They still haven't made up their mind for definitive pricing tiers.

Netflix has also been sacrificed at the altar of the woke culture, and instead of churning out good content, they want to leverage socio-political movements to build a brand. What happens when identity politics movement gets consolidated?

Google and Microsoft are truly inclusive companies. Their free public offerings are unbelievable. Amazon is omnipresent and their cloud technology is a trend setter.

Facebook & Apple need to be better employers and guardians of privacy (and their own reputation). Apple lied about battery life, Facebook has been embroiled in too many scandals like Cambridge Analytica and inflation of video metrics.

like

Nay

Also leaving out the Chinese BATs.

It should be a single syllable in my opinion. If you insist on adding Microsoft to that list, put the M at the beginning so it’s silent (as in Mboscodictiasaur 😏) and makes it easier to pronounce — MFAANG.

Hey hey! I am one week ago from graduating and I’m trying to find a copywriter with good english skills to apply to the agencies together! Any platform that helps with that or any advice?

I’m concerned with my electricity bill. I moved to a different building and no habits have changed: lights/heat/ac usage has been the same. I went from $40/mo to about $100/mo. This month my bill was $200! Even though I was gone for a week. And haven’t really changed my electric usage.

Can I call ConEd to check my new apartments meter or figure out what’s using so much electricity?

Anyone have any idea when the hiring freeze might end within AWS ProServ? I’m currently at Amazon and have a TS clearance, PMP & CSM. I come from a Big4 consulting firm with a background in Enterprise Performance. I’ll be honest and say I’m not feeling very safe in my current role with the ongoing layoffs. Instead of leaving, I’d love to go back to my “consulting roots” and join the ProServ team. I’m taking my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam next weekend. Hoping this freeze is lifted soon.

Company A is in the Netherlands and I like their product more, but kinda worried about COVID wrecking those plans. Company B is US-based but also has a presence in the Netherlands and said I’d be able work from there as well starting around the summer time (Company B). I’m just worried they might that agreement. Company B pays more in the US
