You could teach those babies of yours how to cook. Including your spouse.
You need to plan your meals and when you cook, double it. Those are not leftovers, my mother called them planovers. 🙂 Either serve them the next day or freeze them.
A favorite of my kids was burrito bowls, everything for tacos + rice, but in a bowl, like Chipotle. Make the rice while you brown the beef, a little chopping, & you are good.
Don’t overlook grilled cheese or breakfast for dinner (pancakes, eggs, or egg sandwiches), you can often save $$ as well as time that way.
I make this meal that’s super tasty and pretty quick! I start by browning some hot Italian chicken sausage in a pan, while that’s cooking I boil water for pasta/cook the pasta (I like the bow ties but you can use anything), once the sausage is cooked I add a little carton of light cream to the sausage and let it thicken, once it coats the back of the spoon I add some fresh grated parm and sometimes a little pasta water if it’s really thick, then I toss in some spinach and add the noodles and mix it all up! It’s usually less than a half hour and soooo tasty (as long as you eat meat, dairy, and gluten)! But I bet you can substitute any of the ingredients to suit your taste!
I just started doing an online dinner service. I order and it gets delivered. No need for shopping and the dinners are delicious.
You need to meal prep at best. Make a casserole on Sunday put in freezer, I always make chili or veg soup on a Sunday… homemade.. it’s good for at least 3 days. I like Trader Joe’s Pepe cache frozen bags then grill up sone chicken breast to add to it. You could make stuffed peppers in advance…
I have several go to recipes for the week. On Sunday, chop lettuce, onions, green peppers, cucumber, and make about six hard boiled eggs. During the week I serve chicken salad and/or steak salad with air fried sliced potatoes.( It’s a Pittsburgh thing to put fries on the salads!) it’s low calorie and easy to make in advance. I also have Salmon and cod a couple days with steamed veggies and air fried little red potatoes. Crowd favorite!! Dessert: sponge cake with strawberries. Yummy!
Our son brought us an Instant pot that has changed our meals! I can arrive home at 4:45 and still cook a roast, with veggies added an hour later, as they need only five minutes to cook. The roast needs twenty-minutes per pound. It had been exciting to have a nice dinner rather than a quick frozen stirfry.

Every Sunday, I buy two Rotisserie Chickens from Sam's. I debone and chop it. Then I can make quick meals with the chicken. Quesadillas and Salad, Barbeque Hawaiian Pizza on Bagel thins, etc.
Any preferences with types of food or what counts as little work/easy? If you mean almost no cooking: quesadillas, BLTs, diner dinner (eggs, toast, bacon,) might do the trick. I’ll share more if you’d want it :)
Anything in a crockpot or instant pot. I use crockpot liners to save on cleanup. There are a million crockpot insta pot recipes to choose from.
Prep a lasagna from the day before or make a tuna casserole. Pasta is very easy to cook with some delicious Ragu sauce!
Wasn’t the op on this but I love seeing everyone’s go to meals!! Thanks for the inspo :)
