The best advice I could give you is to communicate open and honestly with your teams and managers. So if you have three managers telling you you have to do x today. You should be telling them you have multiple managers requesting your time and they need to help you prioritize. If you just say yes and work till your eyes bleed the quality will be poor. Your mental health will suffer. And the managers will end up unhappy with the work. Communication is the key
Sorry for long post but I really need advice as this is impacting my health, do people just focus on some projects at all costs? I feel We don’t have control of our own time due to multiple managers who do not coordinate. I have anxiety and constantly worry that I’m not using my time the most effectively then jump from project to project or spend a longtime trying fruitlessly to figure out what should be my priority and then don’t get anything done - I feel it’s a vicious cycle but the only other option I see is picking projects somewhat arbitrarily which makes me uncomfortable. Writing this I’m thinking everyone must be faced with this same issue and that maybe I’m just unrealistic in thinking that objective prioritization is a reality and the hack is to just focus on a limited amount of stuff each week.
This!
I would strongly encourage you to find one person who you can talk to, etc that can help you prioritize or can talk to the managers or partners for you so they can figure it out. Mental health and anxiety, etc are very important, and it sounds like you might need an advocate at work who understands and can help.
