I applied to two retail jobs at the same shopping centre. One replied in two days, the other has been silent for three weeks. If the slow one finally calls, is it normal to mention I already have another offer, or does that hurt your chances?

Well, firstly, I’d be shocked if you heard from that one of you applied to three weeks ago. But if you do no, I think it’s normal. Employers expect you to be applying to multiple opportunities at one time. It shouldn’t hurt anything.

If they haven't contacted you yet, there's a good chance they won't. If they do, don't mention that you are interviewing somewhere else as well. You never know if the job will fall through and you don't want to risk losing another possible job offer.

I wouldn’t mention an offer until I am in the final stages for that particular employer. This could be used as a bargaining tool in salary negotiations.
