I had to double check, because I know I just posted on a similar thread. Yes, this focus on perfection is a problem. I blame US Bank. They were the first I was aware of that started "5 Star Service" and were literally firing tellers that only got 4 stars!! You're saying above average is not good enough?
Uber is perhaps even worse (I tried driving for them on my days off back before and even during covid, I have an entire study on why you cannot make money driving for them) Uber will literally deactivate your account if you score as "low" as the mid-4s, out of 5. They changed at one point and said that bad ratings because of mapping issues wouldn't count against drivers, but that only matters if the rider puts down the correct reason for less than a 5-star rating.
Things happen. Mistakes are made. Some people are like me and see this focus on 5 stars as "grade inflation". Some people will give a bad rating because they had a bad day (like any customer complaint). It just gives the higher-ups a feeling of accomplishment, puts the front line workers under additional stress, adds to the issue of problem customer we have been dealing with for....well, a long time, but even worse the last five years, and solves nothing.

This uber rating system you are talking about is right and it has happened to my brother as well. He was blocked for few days from using the account because some customers gave him bad reviews. Like you said mistakes happen and they should not leave a negative impact that it affects your next performance.
Sorry to hear that… I know that can be very annoying to see. I don’t think they should’ve let you taken the fall for your employee. One thing I dislike about my job is the community aspect. I work alone more of the time and it would be nice to see some of my coworkers.
There is value in paying attention to feedback patterns and responding accordingly, but holding the complaint of a lone Karen against specific employees is terrible for morale. My last job did stuff like that and then they wondered why they had such a high turnover.

You are right. I mean sometimes it is not your fault at all and you try your 100% to de-escalate the issue. Some people just love making things hard for other people. They day I came to know about this, it ruined my day.
