I feel like homicide detectives have it so rough… I've read some cases online and they see awful, I couldn't imagine witnessing those things IRL.

It's definitely not an easy job, and I'm sure there are times when it's very tough to deal with what they see. But at the same time, I think they must find it rewarding to be able to help solve crimes and bring closure to families.

It's horrible, sometimes what you see haunts you for days, but at the same time it motivates you to do your job to prevent anyone from having to see, or suffer, that horrible scene again.

As strange and disturbing as it sounds, after a while you develop the stomach to be able to tolerate them without being affected and be able to do your job. The first few months as a detective do feel like hell, that's for sure.

Will be getting proceeds from a house sale shortly ($175K or so), and then will be completing purchase of new house around December. Suggestions on best place to park the house sale proceeds in meantime? Looks like best savings rate our current bank can manage is .06% right now. Not even sure we can get that rate since we only park funds there for 4 months.
