I have a question for Baker Tilly/MA folks- I signed on with Moss Adams last year to begin work 10/1/25. MA has a bonus model that pays $10,000 if you pass all 4 cpa exams before you start or $8,000 for 3, then down to $5,000 if you pass all within 1 year of starting.


Has anyone heard about whether this will stay in place? I’m assuming we will change over to BT’s bonus model, so I’m also wondering what that is. $5,000 to pass within 1 year?

Gift giving help: every year around this time my husband brings up his Jan bday and basically demands I spend a lot of $ on him. I find this stressful. I don’t do big lavish gifts but each year I feel pressure to or he won’t be happy. I see most people posting from well known firms, how many people work for small firms. Like less than 100 people. Looking to connect to see how it differs from big four.

Is CMA worth getting after getting the CPA? Or is it better to get the CFA. Also don’t have much finance background so I don’t know if I can pass the CFA will require a lot of hard work. Interesting in hearing people’s thoughts.

I have no plans in leaving PA anytime soon but I figure maybe I should look into another certification that holds value and makes me more marketable compared to my peers. Appreciate any thoughts and advice.

Dumb questions but genuinely curious:

1) Let’s say you’re a recent undergrad candidate with no internships on your resume. What’s the deciding factor that you’re qualified for Advisory vs Tax vs Audit? Is it school, gpa, etc.?

2) Why can’t you switch from Tax to another SL without having to pull strings? I understand that there’s a difference in tax vs book experience but why does the Accounting field gatekeep other SLs? It’s not like we’re incapable of learning other areas.
