The information you’ve chosen to display in your resume - and how you have done so - doesn’t convey to the reader that you know/understand your target audience - which is a consulting firm. Look to make your resume in HBS style
Your experience unfortunately doesn’t stand out above other candidates, certainly not for McK and BCG, and probably the other consultancies too. Try obtaining a stand-out experience, e.g. a Masters degree from a top 5 uni (from the way you listed your degree and CIBSE experience, I assume you’re in the UK)? If so, the Imperial MSc Environmental Technology course is a solid program with strong exit opps to sustainability consulting)
Your experience is too technical for the roles you’re applying / you’re not demonstrating an understanding of business - which is the core function of the consultancies you’re applying to. Try doing a relevant internship somewhere to pivot your career and emphasize that
You need to be more quantitative and outcome-driven in the bullet points you list
You don’t need a third of a page to list the tasks you undertook in a 5 hour online course
1.) 2 page resume at a consulting firm? Come on!
2.) in this market most of these firms are at a hiring freeze
3.) have you networked for a referral?
As an EYP person i would say it’s easier to get into a generalist role and then hop into an ESG team down the line. When money is free again ESG diligences will pick up like crazy
Would love to hear about your experience! Let's DM.
