I have approximately 7 years of experience and have recently obtained my architect's license. I am wondering if I can ask for a salary of $100,000, or something very close to that amount, during negotiations with my current firm or other firms I am applying to. Been working as an Assistant Technician for 3 years (2 years excluding pandemic) pay is £21k now £22 adjusted for inflation. I will be completing my Part 1 in architecture but also have a degree in Technology, should I find a different company after graduation or take roles offering £30-45k as an Architectural Technologist/Technician.

Curious to know what other avenues people have taken in our industry to make more money. Currently getting OT which is nice since most places don’t offer that benefit but still doesn’t feel like it’s worth the long nights when the paycheck comes in.

I’m curious to know if anyone has experience working part-time in architecture? I have been working for large international firms in NYC for the past 10 years. So I work all day every day. My evenings and often the weekends are all absorbed by work duties. Working part-time would allow me to find a better balance, and carve out space for side gigs and eventually start my own firm. Any recommendations?
