That sounds awful, but it's part of being a receptionist in a lot of places. Someone has to handle the switchboard as it can't be unattended as calls come in. Most workplaces have some accommodation, someone will take your place during a break, for instance. I once worked on a switchboard in a very busy office, and the calls just never stopped, so just walking away wasn't an option.
You have to ask? Like ask for permission to use the bathroom as a working adult? They actually told you you must ask first or to make sure there’s coverage? I understand needing to make sure the receptionist desk and phone(s) are covered if it’s a busy time of the day. Employers shouldn’t restrict you from using the restroom by making you ask permission to do so though.
omg nooooooo!
I live by do what makes you happy. You have to get up and go to work every day.
I agree, I think we should love going to work. A place we spend more than home should be a comfortable place.
Seriously? Oh no. Micromanaging .
Yes same at my job and actually it is not fair I mean I have to wait for someone to come to relieve me to use the bathroom no one shows up so I just go. Of my boss has a problem then she can find someone else. It's like a prison
I'm ready to take your position if you are bored with it
