Take it from me who arrived in UK six months back and had a salry of 35.5 lpa in India. I came at 75k along with my wife who earned around 10 lpa in India.
My challenges :
1. 40% tax + 25% of salary on rent + nhs / insurance / pension.
2. Wife yet to find a job of her choice given the current market conditions
3. Absolute scam nhs, they will delay your case for life (my wife suffering from a gallbladder stone since 9th June and no surgery has been enabled for her, it just goes in loop, free medical care but at times it is better to pay and get good care rather than endlessly waiting for free care, which by the way for us comes at 624 gbp and as per latest reports are to go up even further next year.
I save merely save 10-15% of my salary and always saving it for emergency.
In India, I had a more than comfortable lifestyle and never bothered to check a pricetag before buying.
Here we eat at home everyday and carry water and food when we go out because it take 27 gbp to breathe.
What I have learnt is our companies double our India salary (for example instead of 35 lakhs I now get 75 lakhs, almost double if you think in rupees) but the thing is everything here is 4 to 5 times more expensive. Which means you are always in the negative.
What are the scenario in which you should come to London -
1. Fairly young around 26-29, you would have time to experience multicultural society and this experience will hold you good for life.
2. If both members of the family are working full time
3. If you have a salary below 20 lpa in India
Please do not come to london for any salary below 100 k. It's unsurvivable. I count my days to go home next and this is not a good way to live. A new place should give you happiness, I am unable to njoy the experience because I'm always short of money.
I hope my case improves and you make a sane decision.
Wish you the best.
Broadly agree with KPMG. This country is also going downhill very quickly so no reason to think things will get better soon. One thing to consider though is Glasgow is probably much cheaper than London
If you are earning 35 lpa in india. Don't come to the UK on 60gpb per annum.
It may be a little different but in London it is very difficult to survive with family especially with children on 60k.
Also, 35lpa is the equivalent standard of living of 120k gbp in london in current cost of living crisis. It may be around 90-100k in Glasgow.
Hi, would you mind sharing your current YOE, technology or role. I'm interested to understand what it takes to earn 35 lpa fixed in current scenario in Bangalore
Stay in India
I am living in 1bhk and its 1400 per month plain rent that too 1 hour communte distance from central london. So gauge ur situation and decide wisely.I still would like to give my two cents advice , if you or whosoever is planning to move abroad just make up your mind that you will be earning in gbp/euro/dollar so would be spending in respect currecncy only dont just start comparing things with inr and crib its too costly.I heard people saying dhaniya mirchi is 200 250 rs.To be specific its 2 /2.5 pounds. This is rationale thinking and you would be at peace.Secondly if you are purely moving for money then think twice cz mow a days in India you can save more.So with less saving and no household help and with lot of other struggles it might not be a good deal for you.Its just my pov thats I am sharing.
