Alright, alright. Based on these responses, I’ve got my answer. I have zero desire to make anybody feel bad. Knew the industry was in bad shape, but sounds like tons of people are truly hurting. I wish everyone the best.

That’s usually the case freelancing, no? Rarely does anyone pay you to produce anything more than that first pdf for the meeting. My book just stopped in time when I was freelance.

If you’re going to continue to freelance, you might want to find another avenue to make stuff (pro bono, side hustle, etc).
