In my experience, if they like you and want to hire you, they’ll let you know. If there’s been no momentum on their part, it might be they have another candidate in mind and are waiting to see if that person accepts, or it might be that they lost some biz and can’t hire anyone after all. Third option is you’re their number one pick but they’re slow to move and poor at communicating. Either way, It probably doesn’t do any harm to reinforce your excitement so I would follow up with both. “I know you mentioned your timeframe was 3 weeks, and I wanted to express my continued interest as you consider candidates: I am committed to bringing X, Y, Z to the team and the reason why I’m excited about the opportunity is “ABC”. To the HR lead I think you can be a little more direct and ask whether they anticipate additional steps in the process / whether the position is still open
Should I reach back out to them directly or go through initial internal recruiter contact to ask about status of the position?
