I interviewed for a partner role this week (currently a senior). They rolled out the red carpet, had even (local) fully remote partners come in to meet me, took me and almost every counsel and partner in the entire department of this office out to an expensive lunch. The recruiter told me before I went that it was a done deal and was more to wine and dine me. That was Monday and I haven’t yet heard anything. Is this bad? Am I overthinking this?

Guys I got the offer 😊

Honestly, sounds good. Maybe they are clearing potential conflicts? Also, its a holiday weekend so ppl are taking their families on vacation.

like

Maybe? We haven’t discussed conflicts just yet. One of the partners told me they rarely hire partners as they prefer only to hire people they know or who started as an associate or counsel there. They said personality fit is very important over legal skills so i figure if they didn’t like me they may not hire me in the end. These seem like very cool people

Partner hiring is much slower than associate hiring because there's way more politics around your offer and making sure they're not doing anything that will make other partners mad. I suspect they're just sorting things out.

likehelpful

If it helps, my group is hiring a lateral partner. We talked to him mid-March,everyone loved him, but we had to go through a bunch of internal conversations and approvals and didn't send him an offer until the beginning of May.

What does the recruiter say? They should be in contact with them.

like

Interesting. The recruiter should be affirmatively checking in, not just waiting to be contacted, so hopefully they are.

Partner decisions usually go through committee. When is the committee meeting?

helpful

No clue 😀 I didn’t even think to ask. Recruiter insinuated they’d talk to me about the compensation package at dinner, but they never did. The managing partner had an important client meeting so left halfway into my half-day long interview. How often do most hiring committees meet?

What year are you?

Hi there!
I completed the last round of an interview (presentation) last week. Originally they said they would be calling my references & then make an offer accordingly.
Today they updated that they'd like me to travel to their HQ (based in Nordics & I'm in London) for the final round where I'd meet the CEO, the hiring manager and a couple of people in the team.
I don't think I'm the only one in the process - even though initially the last round was the presentation.
What are your thoughts?

Is it common to negotiate software engineer salary at smaller companies? I know it’s common at FAANG, but what about for companies with around 200 engineers? I have a counter offer from my current company and on-site interviews scheduled for end of July with google and Amazon, but I’d prefer to go with the smaller local company if I can negotiate the salary (from offer letter) up another 5% or so.

Does anyone know how to make their resume look more manager like? My resume shows:

- I have the skills and experience.
- I tailored it to the job description

The recruiter at a job fair yesterday said I'm a good fit, but to send her an email with edits to the resume to make it look more like a managers one because they have to sell applicants to higher ups and schedule an interview.

I can't wait too long to send it, so nervous as I'm picking at it trying to further change it.

I just received an offer from BNY Mellon, and as per their terms and conditions mentions BNY can solely decide to reject or not accept our resignation letter, even though the notice says 60 days? Is it even legally allowed?

Can we never leave them after handing over the resignation letter until they agree as well?
