When work from office is going to resume???
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Dude what you call traffic, rent, etc is basically the foundation of modern society and a major piston in the economic engine.
Ever wonder why there are so many pubs, fast food joints, clubs, malls, etc in place like blore, hyd, delhi, mumbai, etc? Why do global institutions invest so much in setting up shop in these cities? Why do these cities have so many new housing projects? It is because of what they represent, what they signify. They are economic centers and because employees flock to these cities, the public spending is also higher giving rise to high revenue and profits. Now you say u dnt wanna relocate, and let's say your wish is granted, and there are several thousand others who get this, do you think economies will perform the way they do? Many of ur clients will go out of business, because society is like a ferris wheel, what goes around comes around. You are your client's customer outside of work. The future is hybrid, like it or not; and it has to be with people living at their base locations. What i said is a small crumb of the actual macro economic reality. So instead of being short sighted and repeating gyan you found on some pseudo liberandu's page/post, think like an entrepreneur. You will go a long way at HSBC or any other organization you join in the future.
Maybe I haven't had exposure to the world like you have (or claim to have), but that is exactly the basis of my argument. I am both keen and open to it, not to mention excited. I consider your resistance and argument narrow-mindedness, so maybe it's a matter of perspective.
P.S.: No regrets about my choice of words as it just felt right.
