I just got a surprise promotion with a 20% raise, which is way more than the 10-15% I was planning to ask for next year. I've been working above my level for months and was prepping to negotiate, but my boss beat me to it. Everyone says always negotiate, but I'm honestly thrilled with this. Should I still try to push for more or just accept something that already exceeded my hopes?

I wouldn’t. Just keep rolling with it

Wow, that is really great to hear. Many companies didn't even give raises this year. If it were me, I would probably just accept it and move on. I would be scared to try and push for more.

You have an awesome boss, keep up with the relationship, she/he is one of your biggest sponsor. I won’t negotiate more considering your boss must’ve gone miles already in order to get you this raise.

I had something like this happen to me this year...except my boss came back right where Ii expected to be instead of above, and, like you, without me even bringing up the topic.

I rolled with it in my case.

That's an outstanding raise! Go you! Also, kudos to your boss for helping facilitate this. I would take what was offered with a grace and make sure you thank those that hand a hand in this new role/promotion/salary.

What is the variable pay does Macquarie give year on year ? And is there a surety that we will surely get a decent variable pay as well over our fixed package since I don't find anything mentioned regarding this variable pay in my offer letter. Yoe- 8 and tech - selenium testing, and position- assistant manager.
If yes, how much one can expect in variable pay for fixed compensation of around 25-30lpa.

Hi all, I have about 7 years of professional experience but only one year as a Customer Success Manager. I work on mid market accounts currently. I love my job, but would prefer to support a more robust platform that will allow me to add more value for my customers.

I’d appreciate your thoughts on what compensation you might expect for a CSM transitioning to a new company with one year of experience.

To clarify, I don’t have an offer yet, I’m just looking to make a move.

Thank you!

Hi all,

After the final interview, HR reached out and said they would like to extend an offer. HR gave a ball park of 135k - 145k base with about 15k in sign-on equity and 20k annual bonus.

After a couple of days, HR person came back with with 125k base and 20k annual bonus. No sign-on equity anymore. What should I do given that these numbers seem way lower than the initial range provided? HR claimed it’s because of “market conditions”.

I gave them a range of $70-75K, so they gave the max. But I am questioning asking for a bit more given insurance is apparently on the higher-end and I want to ensure I didn't low-ball myself.

Just to note, this is about a 25% increase compared to what I am currently making.
