My current manager is pretty good about just granting it without question, which I really appreciate. I've had previous managers do this exact thing and it always made me roll my eyes. Don't offer PTO and expect me not to use it.
I hate when managers act like this and honestly I just ignore them. I earn my PTO and best believe that I am going to use every hour of it. Thankfully I have a really great manager now who encourages us to take time off so I never have that issue.
I used to work at a place like that. It was horrible. Luckily my current job is awesome about time off.
I haven't had any problems with that in my current job, and I appreciate that. I have a friend who works for a company that offers unlimited PTO, and of course there's a huge catch to it. Getting the time approved seems to include a good dose of emotional blackmail.
I don't feel guilty!! I've earned my pto! And you have too! Take it
