I keep getting ghosted after final-round interviews, and I give up after one follow-up. Am I not doing enough, or am I right in thinking that if I haven't heard after that follow-up, I haven't gotten the job?

I have a friend who was let go a few months into his first job after college (reason: the manager felt like he wasn't grasping the training content to the level that was expected).
