Bus driver in Cornwall. Less stress and probably less twats to deal with on the daily.
Only real ones understand
This is basically the plot of an obscure 90s film - an M&A manager at a nascent infraco slowly descends into insanity at the financial ramblings of his consultant friend. He ends it all with a fibre-optic noose. The consultant friend drives into the sunset on his Routemaster Pro.
A bus driver in Cornwall could just get another job in the evening (or day) to top their hours up to 70 or 80. Cost of living adjusted they'd probably be better of then a EM at a T2 in London (yes, obviously the long term earning potential isn't there, but it's still an interesting comparison)
Completely agree with brandy assassin. Pls watch Tommy Wiseau’s 90s classic “bus infraco noose fibre” and you’ll understand how ridiculous your argument is.
Rising Star
Bus driver in Cornwall maybe not. What I will say is I have mates up in the North West around Liverpool doing fairly chill back office jobs in retail banks and building societies that are doing and feeling much ‘better off’ than we are living in London and grinding.
Sorry, but I refuse to believe anyone on a household income of 350k has it rough in any sense of the word. Unless you are living well beyond your means
As others have stated - everything is relative. The quality of life you can get outside of London can be superb. Even on a relatively modest salary. Choose your town carefully, though.
There's a reason why Poles have returned to Poland after Brexit - Polish economy is booming, quality of life is superb, food quality is great, the society is cohesive and safe. Meanwhile, London increasingly feels like Gotham to most people who cannot afford to live in the most posh areas. And employers increasingly feel entitled to treat rheir employees like dirt.
Why put up with any of it? Choose your poison.
That consultant would piss their pants on day one having to drive past Cornwall teens armed with rocks for fun. “Pls fix v21” is more palatable
