They’ve been saying that for a long time but still haven’t done it. Many jobs prefer a BSN or expect you get it within so many years of working for them. I started with ASN to make RN money faster, then quickly got my BSN.
There has been this push for quite a while, but with the healthcare crisis (not having enough staff anywhere) I think they are realizing that if they make it mandatory, they're going to be in a bigger mess. I'd say if you can do it, go ahead. You'll have more opportunities later in your career, and more money is nice too.

Yes this is so true
I was told that 10 years ago, thats why I got mine. It doesnt make you a better nurse by any means and the pay is really no different. Just cost $$$ to go back to school for it.

I became an lpn in 2011 and never stopped hearing since !
I wouldn’t think they could not afford to lose that many nurses. But what do I know, I just work here 🤷🏻♀️😂

I’m with you !
The jobs are moving toward more education....I suspect as that continues hospitals will continue to gravitate toward BSN nurses and the LPN/LVN and Associate degree RNs will be more clinic settings. We are already seeing it really. Hospitals are paying for BSN courses so they can hire on ASN nurses with the agreement that in 2 years time the have a BSN.
But all of healthcare is moving toward more education. Even NPs are moving toward DNP rather than Masters. The cost difference between the degrees can be a good chunk of change and income doesn't really rise more for having it.

Yea I’ve seen that hospital policy as well!
