I immediately sell as o don’t consider my company, while profitable and solid, to be a growth stock and am unconvinced it will outperform the market generally.
I expect you’ll hear others do the same based on the premise that so much of their financial well-being is already tied up in their relationship with their employer that they want some kind of diversity on that front.
I'm pointing out that under my personal circumstances, and for the reasons I mentioned, I prefer to sell my RSU's immediately. That's it.
I generally sell them to pay off a debt, fund a dream, or otherwise improve my immediate life.

My boss promoted a slightly more conservative variation of this:
Base pays the bills
Bonus buys the big ticket items like cars and vacations
Stock is for retirement (I assume he sold it and out the proceeds toward retirement, or that he held the stock)

I did not sell for a long time (15 years) but now have too much concentration in company stock and have two kids in college so i started selling at vesting.
We sell - not because company isn’t a good investment but given salary tied to employer plus tons of invested stock tied to employer, feel the need to diversify.
I sit on the board of a charity and I use my vested RSUs as donation currency through a donor-advised fund. This way, I incur no tax liability, the charity gets money, and everybody wins!
