Oxblood for the win!
Goes with everything!
In past 8 years, I've only worn my black wingtips to funerals.
Black says I’m formal. Light brown says I’m stylish. Dark brown says Eh. Blue says I’m different. Red says look at me. All have a time and place. Except dark brown.
I usually prefer brown or tan shoes but do have some black shoes that I’ll wear occasionally.
One of my good friends is in VC and swears by wearing black tassel loafers. Yuck.
Love black oxfords/balmorals with a charcoal or very dark navy suit in the winter, but in general prefer a British tan or Cognac. Sometimes oxblood to mix it up.
Black shoes and blue suits always. White shirts. My tie is where I get creative.
I used to wear oxblood wingtips because they went will with everything, which I still believe is true. I’ve since switched to black bit loafers which also go well with everything IMO. I personally don’t like the way formal black oxfords look with grey or blue suits.
Loafers are a reasonable way to make black shoes - which I do when wearing charcoal/gray suits - less formal. Gucci/Ferragamo loafers were the uniform among style-conscious younger bankers, interesting to see them be much less popular in consulting, although people in consulting generally dress much worse

black is more formal. keep in mind that you also have to wear a black belt (if you are wearing a belt), so it’s more restrictive.
i used to tend to not wear black onsite because i would be quite obviously wearing the same shoes and belt every day, unless i happened to be alt traveling with checked luggage.
This is how you spot consultants at the airport 😂
