I make $125k but can’t stop comparing myself to friends who bought houses already. I’ve been saving, investing, doing all the “right” things, and I still feel behind. Is this just the new normal, or am I missing something?

Are you also judging people who have less than you? I doubt you are, because you understand everyone has their own circumstance. So do you. It is harder than ever to live the life we were told adults are "supposed" to have. That's not on you.

This is probably someone who gives into peer pressure easily

I’m probably older than you and make less so stop it. Comparison is the thief of joy. I’m also a woman and am finding it’s difficult to ask for a higher salary. The last two times I did when interviewing, I was told my figure was more than they were looking to pay even though it was the midpoint of the range. Why is that and do men encounter that?

You’re literally comparing yourself to them in your own comment lmao

It’s the new norm. $125k just doesn’t go nearly as far as it did pre-Covid.

Comparison is the thief of joy and I have to remind myself of that often. You can't compare yourself to others because you are on a different race track and your race is your own. We all feel behind at times but you are not behind, trust me.

This. I learned the hard way to not dwell on others timelines

This is why we don’t compare our timeline with others. Time is the theft of joy.

Try not to compare yourself to others. By comparing you will constantly want more instead of being grateful for what you already have.

User experience mgr salary? I support six product teams and eight reports. 20+ years experience

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

Does anybody know what the typical salary range is and total comp for someone starting out as an internal or external wholesaler? If you are one of these, can you share about your experience in terms of whether you liked it or not, work life balance, travel, etc?

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.
