I need excuses to get out of a mostly non-important meeting I have scheduled in an hour. Does anyone have a good go to excuse for when you need to get out of a meeting? I have a “real” job to do doesn’t seem to be appreciated as an excuse. I just don’t have time for useless meetings at the EOD Friday.

Respond professionally and politely with a message like this “I appreciate you inviting me to these formal meeting for a topic that could be covered specifically in an email unfortunately, I have to decline as I do have more pressing matters to attend to that require my full attention.”

like

Oh, that's a bit passive aggressive and condescending for my take. I might end with thanks for the invite, but unless you are the senior most ranking person involved ( which OP likely isn't or she would need no excuse) I would never add the later.

And we don't know that the whole meeting could be covered in an email. Only that OP is not an essential participant. It also sounded like OP had already accepted, but now wanted to opt out.

Sorry didn't see this until after you needed some suggestions. So, do tell, what did you use. I like just got pulled into an update needed stat. Will join if I can.

Of course, it really depends on who is in that useless meeting.

The only “excuse” you need is the truth.

If that meeting is not Priority 1 (urgent and important) for you and will interfere with the completion of another higher priority task on your calendar, you simply state that you will not be there. Someone should be responsible for meeting notes, recording, etc anyway so that you can catch up when you do have the space for it.

1.) Stop intentionally making meetings you can not attend.
2.) Just Stop this nonsense please - who comes to a forum such as this with loaded barrels as if this is a blazing turkey shoot.
3.) And, gobble gobble by the way - turkey is my favorite.

I dont feel good, i have stomach pains and leave early.

I always make a sick excuse. I saw this late.

Then again i do have some physical problems which is documented.

Hello, first post here. Outside sales, merchant services/card processing. I’m primarily a welder but I work 4 10-hour shifts typically then I try sales the last three days. I’ve done it long enough to where I’m confident and comfortable going to new businesses, establishing some rapport with business owners. But it seems like a lot of businesses see this as a waste of time, even adding services and cutting costs. I guess either I’m looking for advice or considering not doing this anymore.
