I have some doubt regarding pf contribution... Say for example.. 12% of my base salary is 600 which gets deducted from my salary.. on the flip side.. the company has to contribute 600 to my pf (which is actually deducted from my salary only like already part of CTC)?. So my question again is that.. the company contributes 600 as well? PwC

32 and nothing for over a year. I'm not ready yet, you shouldn't either
2 years, 2000+ applications, and still zero here too.
The field is dying thanks to AI and offshoring anyway. Plus, marketing is being hybridized, so being just a copywriter isn’t an option anymore.
Now, you have to be a copywriter, graphic designer, social media manager, digital marketer, email automation specialist, and project manager all rolled into one. Pure copywriting is just a gig profession now, and freelancers are losing to foreign competition (primarily from India and Nigeria, where copywriting is undergoing an explosion in popularity among jobseekers who see it as their “way out” of shitty jobs and also as a possible ticket to US citizenship) because they’ll do the same job as an American, but they’ll do it for $5 a day.
Being 48 years old doesn’t help, either. Marketing (especially creative) is notoriously ageist. Unless you have pink hair and high-waisted baggy jeans and call everyone “bruh,” marketing managers aren’t interested. If you even *look* older than 30, they’ll toss your application in the trash.
This is why marketing degrees are so popular with zoomers now - it’s the one field where their young age gives them a huge leg up in the job market.
You can try pivoting to comms - you still get to write creatively, and it’s more on the storytelling end of things.
I feel you. Went for close to 2 full years w/ barely any freelance. Started applying to community colleges to figure out a new career.
Was hired FT in April though.
Wishing you luck OP
Yeah, I managed to last until 54, then poof
Still in it at 61! But oh-so ready to call it a wrap soon!!!
Are you having trouble getting interviews or are interviews not progressing afterwards?
Last time I took a lower paying job it progressed into a higher paying position rather quickly. I’m definitely expanding my outlook on jobs like that
What geographic market are you in, and what type of work experience do you have? Are you up to speed on tech and AI etc?
Yes. NYC metro. Financial services/insurance, tech, recruitment marketing
Currently 47 and quite concerned about this.
