I realized recently how much my distaste for networking and big friend groups has impacted my ability to find new jobs. 10 years in, how can I reverse this bad habit ?

I've totally been there before but don't feel bad! Chances are they're more than happy to help

You don't necessarily need a large friend group to take advantage of network opportunities. Reach out to who you know already and see if they can help introduce you to other individuals. Best of luck!

like

Yeah that's the hardest part, ya know? Asking people for introductions always makes me feel really uncomfortable. Makes me feel kinda gross. I know that's totally wrong, but it's something Keep trying to shake.

like

Most people are pretty willing to help each other out. Add who you know on linked in and send them a message. Be nice and non-selfish ("Hope things are good at XYZ agency!" "Saw you moved to a cool new account recently, congrats!") and then ask if they'd mind doing an e-introduction for you. I've done dozens, it's honestly no big deal. The only thing that gives me pause sometimes is if the person asking me is really bad at their work and they want a reference for a job, cause that can make me look out of touch... but just a personal intro to another person is easy. Networking isn't slimy if you're not slimy.

Anyone here with experience as a Product Manager? I’ve close to decade of consumer lending experience including Sales/Advisory, Supervisor and Underwriting. I have have been looking to pivot into a more impactful role this year. I am due for an interview for a Product Manager next week. The company ticks all my boxes but the job description a bit vague. I will be grateful if anybody willing to share what the day role looks like and what I need to look out for in an interview. Thanks. Cheers.

I was offered a high net worth client associate position with fidelity. I have never worked in a call center environment.
Can anyone that has worked in that position tell me what its like and what to expect? Is it more like an administrative position and boring or do you really get to help clients? All feedback is appreciated!

I’ve been approached my by company that one of our large clients (who im currently project managing for) is looking for a consultant of sorts, and if they hire us, I’d be the first person asked to take on this consultant role. This isn’t something my company typically offers and would greatly change the scope of my role. Has anyone ever taken on a role like this? If so, were you able to negotiate a percentage of the consulting fee? Or was it a bump in salary during the project?

I’m 25 and I have this itch to move to a completely new city. I love my city and just bought a house there but I just have this weird feeling I should be somewhere else. I’ve lived in my city for my whole life except for college (which was only 3 hours away). It seems weird and random to up and leave especially after just buying a house. Would love to hear anyone else’s thoughts/experiences!

Hi everyone, I have a quick question that’s kind of silly. I work at a pretty small company leading marketing. My title is technically Marketing Lead but I want to put Head of Marketing on my LinkedIn etc. I think of these titles as totally interchangeable—I just like the way the second one reads better. I know titles don’t really matter, but I’m battling a little bit of imposter syndrome.

What does everyone else think?
