Is the offer within the range you initially agreed to? If so, you should be ok with negotiations just bring back up ie what did you learn about the role you didn't initially know? What is market research showing? If what you are looking for is outside what they originally discussed, you can try to negotiate but they are likely to rescind, but you can try using market research.
Everything is open for negotiation, but be prepared with a range (that you have researched), and further, be prepared to say no. When you say lower, have you considered whether the benefits are better? Shorter commute or even WFH? Factor all that in when you say "lower" vs. looking at just the base.
They typically want an answer in that time frame, sometimes more leeway but thats not atypical. Just tell em you need more cash because xyz reasons, and see how it goes. I saw a guy say he can't put his whole heart into the role for less than x
I would negotiate because they have time to respond and you can still answer within 48 hours.
You always to ask for more pay .
