Hi Fishes, Sometime back I was interviewed for Technical Support Job role in my domain. T1 went well. T2, in my understanding was better only (not great like T1 but not blunder. I felt it was nice and i replied majority of questions). They released the feedback after 10 days with "Not Positive". I am not totally sure with feedback as I replied majority of questions correct. I am being bit curious with "Microsoft" tag. What can be the reason?
Discussion appreciated.

Got an interview with Amazon within their Advertising department. I hear working for Amazon can be great if you get into the right department. Anyone have insights to their advertising department? Good or bad? Also, would love some interview tips if you have them! (It’s for an Executive Assistant position) thank you!

Until you have a written offer, technically, you don't have the job yet. I would even say until the background check clears, it's not official. But that's with any job.
In your scenario, it could be a one-off oversight not looping the site manager in, or it could be a sign of their general disconnect/disorganization. No real way to know at this point. If you will be supporting/reporting to this branch manager then it makes sense they would want to meet you.
I hope it works out for you!
Thank you Executive Assistant 1! I really hope it does too.
The job seems like a great fit, and I got a very good feeling feom the people I interviewed with. They kept me in the loop throughout the 4 week period and have always responded quickly to emails and calls. I was also very impressed that the head of HR offered to get a later start time approved for me to alleviate stress in the mornings. She said she knows how hard it can be as a working mom and wanted to make sure I am successful. Being that everything else has gone smoothly I think the last minute interview with the branch partner was just an oversight.
I'll be crushed if it doesn't work out.
After reading your update, sounds like the branch manager has ok'd your hire as well as later start time request. He likely just wanted to meet with you as formality and to familiarize himself with you. Unless things went terribly wrong during the zoom meeting with him, it sounds like there's not much to worry about as far as your offer. Congratulations on your new job!
Thank you Nurse Practitioner 1!
Honestly, sounds like you’d be dodging a bullet if they did. What kind of company is hiring without the manager knowing about it? And…the hiring manager is probably pissed that they weren’t consulted to begin with so you already have that strike against you.
Run. They are disorganized. If he will be your boss, I’d not bother but that is me. Left and right hands are that confused in a major piece like hiring You, I’d be afraid of other interactions internally that might be an even bigger mess. Good luck. 🍀
Update!!! I just received an official offer letter from HR 🥳 I start August 26th.
Hope it turns out great!
I couldn't type as much as I wanted to in my initial post - there are a few more details that might help.
The entire process happened over a 4 week span. The position is for an office services coordinator with a well established law firm. After I applied, I had a Zoom interview with the HR manager in Chicago (I am in St. Louis). After this, I was invited to a second round interview via Zoom with the facilities director (also in Chicago). Both of those went really well and I felt really good vibes from both people I interviewed with. Two days after my 2nd interview I got the call from head of HR and she offered me the position. I took a few hours to think about the offer, and decided I had some questions. I called the HR manager back and she answered all of my questions plus she offered to get a later start time approved for me (9:15am instead of 9:00am, to give me more time to drop off my kids in the morning). I accepted the offer during this conversation. She said that was great news and she would get back to me about the start time (she wanted to get it cleared with the branch managing partner) and send over the official offer letter.
She replied less than an hour later saying the branch managing partner approved the 9:15am start time, but he also didn't know they had made a decision on a candidate and he wanted to meet with me in person or via Zoom, whichever I preferred. We met over Zoom today. Before this meeting I thought I was 100% hired, and no one has told me otherwise, but I'm just nervous that this additional meeting could mean I don't actually have the job. On the other hand, maybe the branch managing partner just wanted to meet the person he would be working with since he is on site in St. Louis?
Sorry for the long post! If you stuck with me thus far I appreciate it.
Definitely a red flag and they seem disorganized. I would still meet with the next person. You have nothing to lose. Could be as simple as a failure to communicate. At least they didn’t ghost you.
Sound like a place with a lack or communication and organizations skills. Be careful and reconsider
If it is not in writing anything can happen. Just ask them when you could get the offer in writing…but it sounds like an internal communications gap between HR and the hiring manager

Anything is possible.
Anyone saying this was a mistake doesn’t understand how this works. Maybe if this is some 10 person company then maybe something odd happens. They offered you the job. Someone came along right after that. Someone they wanted to hire before, someone who is someone else’s kid, etc. decent to large companies don’t accidentally hire someone without other people in the organization being in The know.

I’m wondering how closely you’ll work with the final interviewer (the one who was not aware of the hire)? Psychologically she is not inclined to approve something she hasnt put her stamp on. But if she does it may be begrudgingly so in which case I’m worried for you. That person may not be great w you 1:1.
Well sounds good.
Personally, I would be concerned with how it unfolded getting up to that point. A *preliminary* job offer? Either offer me or don't. WTF with the calling first. And if the branch manager doesn't know about it (presuming you'd be working for the branch manager) it is not.a real offer. Run. Don't walk.
Wow. That was a close one. Congratulations! 🍾
It might just be that he is also reorganizing positions or new himself-so I would politely jump thru the hoop and see how it goes.
Yes.
Well unfortunately this happens often. When job ads are sent out, they are also inside the company to other internal departments- They may have offered that same job to an internal employee- which would take priority over you unfortunately. But HR is who does the hiring/firing. They can recind a job offer, especially since no paperwork was signed. The hiring manager might want to talk to you about a different position they have available and see if you might be interested in that one instead,, this has happened to me a few times. Be happy to jump on a call and see what they want, it could be the best news ever.
Yeah, don’t do it lol that’s a red flag off rip!
Wow, way to put someone in an awkward situation, HR.
Honestly, I'd run... wouldn't the manager be in at least 1 of your interviews from the start? I would think HR would bring you to the managers attention before the offer also, just so there is no back tracking, time wasting! Good luck!!!
Congradulations. They must have liked you a lot. You must have won the manager over. You did good!
