Do you have a coparent and which slot can they help cover better, mornings or evenings? Have nanny help with the other one.
He’s definitely more available in the mornings usually but often has calls or court (he’s a partner at another firm).
My nanny works from 7-5. My son gets up at 5ish and my husband watches him before the nanny comes and then after the nanny leaves until 8 when I’m usually done with work. He also works full time. Good luck 🙏🏼
My husband goes to bed around 10:30. I go to bed at midnight but wake up around 7. Our son goes to sleep at 9-10. He is 18 months. SOS.
Our nanny worked 830-630. Long day for her but it was the only way we could make it work. We paid her a lot. I took care of the mornings and my husband would be home in the evenings.
No official break, I don’t know how that would work with a baby…. She would have breaks during nap time, and once my kid dropped all her naps, she was in PT (4 hours three days a week) preschool to help everyone’s sanity. But a good nanny is a real miracle worker!
We work together at home mornings before nanny comes so we can run interference if the other one is busy or on a call, same with evenings, that way for us is doable to do 9-5 for nanny but we also told her that some days we might need her later or earlier and would usually give her a couple days notice when earlier and same day when later. Most of the times she could accommodate our changes in schedule, it wasn’t all the time but if possible have that discussion with your nanny so you know you have a backup if the two of you are busier than usual at the same time.
Have a live-in nanny or have two Nannies taking shifts.
I’d consider an au pair plus additional part time help. You won’t get the coverage you need if your nanny/support schedule isn’t as flexible as your job.
