I recently changed jobs and went from a place where there are lots of brilliant woman engineers around me. I was recognised and respected by my manager but wanted to do something new. At this new place, I am one of only two women in a large office and felt belittled by other engineers. How do you move from the top of the mountain to the bottom and start building again?

Just focus on giving it your best and performing with excellence. If you're too busy looking at your competitors you'll lose yourself in the process of trying to be better than them. At the end of the day, there will always be someone better than you. Just accept it and do the best you can with what you got. You'll be a lot happier!

You're already set apart by being one of two women so you have that going for you. Never look at it as a weakness. That is a strength that allows you to be differentiated in a positive way if you let it! It's all about perspective. If you look at yourself as being at the bottom of the mountain then that's where you'll start. If you focus on the positives, you'll start off on a much better foot

Sorry you're not feeling as comfortable in this workplace! In my experience, the quickest way to shut people up is to do your best work. People who are good will respect you and earn your respect. The people who don't want to respect you won't be convinced by anything, so don't waste your time on them.

At my first job, one of the first things that my manager did was pull aside everyone on the team for a 1:1 to understand roles, responsibilities, and communicate why they had been brought on. I still think about that a lot, and I think it made a big difference in how they treated her after bc they understood her perspective more. Not sure if you're fully remote or hybrid, but it's worth considering taking time to get to know people and try to bring them over to your side
