Anyone use a lawyer to get increased disability? If so, any recommendations?

Yes. Be careful in picking an attorney for this though - most are not experienced with these types of claims and some may be charging you when a lot of free resources exist for this. Go through a veteran organization (e.g., VFW) or a state supported veteran assistance commission office (if available in your state). These non-lawyers have experience filing for and appealing disability ratings. They can also refer you to local, qualified attorneys to assist, if that becomes necessary. Also, many law schools have veteran assistance clinics that can provide no-cost legal service, too.

After leaving the military, I volunteered at a veteran’s assistance commission during undergrad and I’ve assisted veterans on a pro bono basis through different groups and clinics while working as an attorney at a large law firm. Please don’t just hire any attorney someone recommends - be sure to exhaust your free resources and the traditional claims process first.

State VAs can be helpful as well - depending where you live

Associate in the NY office of a magic circle firm. Been really struggling with mental health issues for a long time - I feel like I’m begging for guidance/supervision and not getting any, and can’t get any support junior-wise either. I just get told I’m doing a “good job” but I’m pretty sure that’s just because no one is looking. Is the expectation just to magically figure out how to get things done solo, even if it’s the first time to do it? Is it better at NY-HQ firms that have more resources?

I have been a CCA medical coder for my hospital in Oregon for 8.5 years. I have been only been doing outpatient simple visit coding and my supervisors have basically stopped me and another coworker from advancing. We don't have any room for advancement and we are basically stuck.
Im nervous for reaching out to other companies to see if I can get a better offer and advance my career. Im nervous because I am a single mother of 3 and have been at my hospital for 14.5 years.
Any advice or tips ?

-I will use it probably 3 times a week for shorter distance walk/runs
-used to have a peloton tread+ but returned in the recall. Absolutely loved the slat treadmill on my knees/hips
-would ideally like a woodway but $$
-need it for the most basic functions & would watch tv or take peloton / Apple fitness classes on my iPad
-it will go in a garage
-not concerned about having huge incline

Thank you for your input!

Need some advice. Started a few months ago a new job through internal transfer as a lead role in a bank for $350TC. Amazon Web Services keeps messaging me daily for a Principal role and I’m not really in the job market but I think I’ll go through the interview process. I was thinking of demanding the following but I’m not sure how realistic for a remote principle role this is

Base: $240k
Cash Bonus: $110k
Signing Bonus: $150k
RSU: 9,100 shares ($1m PV) in (50/20/15/15)
Does this seem possible?

So here's where I'm at....I have a job that's VERY stable but a manager that well, manages poorly. The manager is there for the foreseeable future, there is no room for promotion or a possible shift change for another 2-4 years. Opportunity is seemingly presenting itself elsewhere, but I'm worried about the stability of the new place. I've seen that they just had workers retire after 35-40 years and the reviews are at 82% recommended work place. My goal is to get to 1st shift. Thoughts?

I’m torn. My current role is great in that I have so much flexibility day to day. However, I’m not being compensated fairly per the market value & I work with one of those types that slips thru the cracks that plays the system.. Anyway, a few people left due to this person. There is also a high turnover as competing companies are paying a lot more.

A recruiter reached out to me regarding a position with awesome pay but schedule is like a set 9-5. For me, it would be a promotion..

I sent my initial enlistment paperwork showing my “start date” in the reserves and a second document with my discharge details. Yet they’re now asking for a “verification pin” from the US Army Reserves for proof of employment/service. Wtf is this verification PIN? Do they also want a notarized message from my recruiter?
