Congratulations on your promotion! Remember it’s better to be a small fish in a big pond than a big fish in a small pond. You moved up because you were worthy of the challenge. You will find your footing even if it takes some time. Never be afraid to ask others for help and remember you have much to learn. Best of luck.
Another person with an outdated title here. The hardest shift is definitely going from being a doer to a leader. Some people at sup level get a little experience managing, some don’t. It’s hard to let go and delegate no matter how much previous managing experience you got.
Biggest piece of advice and hardest to adhere to is to not takeover and rewrite anything that’s not to your liking. Give your team a few shots to try things out. It’ll help you see what the strong and weak points are.
i think being open to multiple ways so solve something vs the exact solve or way you might have it in your mind will help keep things pushing. i’m not good at this btw
best leaders IMO recognize many ways to skin a pig so they don’t get stuck and are able to make their (competent) direct reports feel empowered and inspired to own projects and keep them on track
