I recently started my job search into more professional avenues and found that collections wasn't really a good fit for me. My previous boss suggested I should find a job in accounting due to my strengths when I was working for them. But i don't know the best place to start my path as an accountant. What would be the best avenue to try and get experience or even a job in accounting?

I am looking for a lower stress, mostly remote, part time job. Any recommendations? My background is corporate Income tax. 10 years experience.

Out of curiosity. How would a company view a potential candidate who has a period of unemployment to study for the CPA. I am considering to start studying for the exam but I know I would need to leave my employer in order to give 110%. I am contemplating the idea of at least passing one part while employed. Then leaving my employer to study FAR. I am considering to leave my current employer anyways, so it’s more of how my future employer would view that lapse.

If I am searching for an external audit position as a senior associate in public accounting particularly in the healthcare industry what is a competitive wage? Currently I am 1 year in as a senior associate at a top 5 firm and making less than 80k. I do not have my CPA yet but working at it. I have 3 exams left to pass.

After every busy season, I think about leaving public accounting and/or the firm. I have 5+ years in tax. Anyone switch to audit/consulting from tax? Two busy seasons a year, with barely anytime to chill in between is exhausting. Anyone in private looking to hire someone with a background in federal tax?
