You mean you're frustrated that you don't feel like you can speak up yet? Is this something self-imposed? I wouldn't be SO strict with yourself about speaking up, I'm sure there are productive ways you can contribute your opinion

Why do you have to sit on your hands though? I think it would be good to jump in and let them know areas that you see that need improvement unless they have told you they want you to just observe and not speak up for 45 days.
