I started the week telling myself I would focus on high impact work. By lunchtime I was stuck answering small questions and fixing minor issues. Important, yes. Strategic, not really. How do you stop your week being swallowed by small tasks?

Ignore them until you've got the important stuff taken care of? I don't see what the problem is since you said the questions and issues were trivial, not super time-sensitive. "Okay, in the middle of XYZ right now, will follow up on this once I'm done."

I get the logic, but I struggle with that in practice. Those “quick” asks rarely feel trivial in the moment. I am trying to get better at saying I will circle back, without feeling like I am being difficult.

I sometimes have to lock myself in my office and get that high-impact work done. If my door is open, then I am constantly bombarded with things that don't even really need my attention. Don't beat yourself up, though; it happens to all of us.

The door analogy is accurate. I do not even have a physical door, so the interruptions are constant. It makes me realise I need to create boundaries intentionally, not just hope for quiet time.

Create a list and put the smalls on it then when it is full take a day or 2 to focus on the list.

I use my AI agents now to handle most of the smalls. Might want to let you AI genetic system of choice manage the list and perform the actions for you.

Who is still in denial about a housing correction? The Fed just made another .75% increase. Powell said they won’t stop until inflation is 2%. He also said a recession would be better than the consequences of unchecked inflation. He announced he will bring rates to a “restrictive level” until “the job is done”. He said that labor demand needs to soften (ie: layoffs). He very explicitly said he wants to slash demand and that housing needs a “correction”.

Hi! I have a quick question and could use some advice:

I have 1 job offer that is an hour away and pays 45k, after negotiations (Research Associate Position at a University) .

I have just interviewed for a position closer to home and a base salary of 65k, but haven’t heard back from them in about 2 days (He said he would make a decision by yesterday and I’ve reached out).
I have to decide on the first offer by Thursday but I haven’t heard back from the second yet. Thoughts on next move?
