I stayed loyal through years of chaos and budget cuts, and now I am watching new hires walk in with salaries uncomfortably close to what I'm making. I am happy for them but it feels like a punch in the gut. Why aren't companies giving raises based on tenure?

Simply because they don't have to. What recourse do you - or any of us - have right now? Job hopping isn't anywhere near as easy as it was a few years ago. People are clinging to jobs, low pay and all, because there just aren't a lot of better options available. You could make the argument that that should result in lower starting salaries for new hires too, but that's just not the way it works and I'm not going to begrudge the new hires for it.

Yes, it’s the way it works however it shouldn’t work this way. People shouldn’t have to suffer and struggle because they aren’t paid like others or increased appropriately based on performance and certainly shouldn’t be making less than a new comer.

They are willing to let a good employee walk obviously. 🙄 they hire new people and they walk within weeks.

I believe improving one’s sales conversion rate is something everyone want to improve but no one wants to admit they would like to work it. Funny how lawyers will spend thousands on seminars to improve trial skills. But this topic is not discussed in our profession. I have read books in sales. But am unable to find any for lawyers. I’m a fairly new manager and there is a high expectation to contribute ideas on how to improve our ways of working, flag up bottlenecks, contribute to strategy etc. We usually have meetings where we discuss these things as a team ( manager and above), but I hardly ever have anything to say. Is there anything I can do to come up with ideas and make more impact in these meetings? Could there be something I’m not paying attention to? Any advice will be appreciated.

Currently interviewing at JPMorgan in their CIB division for a associate operations role. Have met with 5 people for two different teams and another person for another team, all of which I believe are 3 total open positions for 3 different teams. Any insight on the interview process or how long it takes or any sort of idea to give me on what I could look for that might help me believe I might get an offer?
