I think I'm becoming jaded. Used to get outraged at insurance company shenanigans, now I just expect them. Is this healthy cynicism, or am I losing my humanity?

I’m curious what you mean by “shenanigans”. I imagine from the insurance perspective there’s little sympathy for the real estate side of things. The amount of outright bullshit that comes across claims desks from storm chasing public adjusters and litigious homeowners in coastal states is a lot of what is driving the hard market.

I started doing tax controversy for a while and recently moved back to insurance coverage.

I got VERY tired of the IRS shenanigans. I don’t think it’s being jaded- I think it’s a deep understanding of the situation. If anything, having the capacity to rationalize that situation is making you more human

Had a first round interview scheduled for a large CPG brand. My interviewer never called me, and I emailed following up to confirm the call. It’s been over a day and no response. What is going on with recruiters? I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt, but not even an email back saying “something came up” or “we’ve moved on” ? I’ve been ghosted after every final interview during my recent job search, but never had I been ghosted before even having the first call??

For the people who went back to school to pursue a totally different career, what did you do for work? I don’t think I’d be able to do both my current job and school. I did retail in college and that probably isn’t so smart right now. Neither is working at a restaurant. I don’t think I can go back and live with my parents. I feel like I’m stuck.

What are you considering when assigning cases to firms in the defense panel. I’m a 2nd year associate at a national ID firm (~300 attorneys) and want to create rapport with claim managers I’m currently working with. Any advice?

Alternatively, is there something that will cause you not to assign cases to particular firm?

Is life insurance a priority to anyone at the moment, and if so why is life insurance important to you?

It can be impossible to deal with financial losses due to declining health or unforeseen circumstances by not having life insurance. In these cases, the solution to your debts (that can affect the financial stability of you or your loved ones) may fall within the category of life insurance.

I work in insurance. I was working for an Allstate agent and was fired the day after my grandmothers funeral for being “unenthusiastic in our morning meeting”. Now I’m having anxiety searching for a job. I don’t think I want to sell anymore yet every single recruiter I interview with says I should, that I have a “salesperson mentality”. I’m burnt out.
