Two months wasn’t enough for me either—turns out I needed a new job.

I got a new (legal) job but turns out I don’t think I want to be an attorney after all. I was going to explore than during the sabbatical but didn’t get the chance.
Hubby took 6 weeks off from his (non-legal but high stress) job. Went back for 1 week and quit - with my support. We’re all much happier now.
He’s in school for teaching but likely going to be a SAHD when we have a baby

Would you be able to expand on what you didn’t have time for in the 2.5 months? I’m experiencing burnout now and don’t even know where to start in the recovery process if I were to take leave.
I also took a leave for this reason, but only for 6 weeks. It was still helpful to me, but I definitely felt I needed more time, for the same reasons that have already been said. However, any time is helpful I think, even if it is literally to spend less time on screens and more time just breathing, getting some exercise, and more sleep. It took me at least three weeks to feel more clear, and even though I still hated my job when I returned and continued searching, I at least was in a *slightly* better headspace and could see things a little more clearly. Stepping away also helped put things into better perspective for me, in that I was able to see how unimportant much of what causes our stress is (not that our work isn’t important, but we’re not saving lives, you know?)
