I turned down a VP role at a competitor because their bonus history looked like a heart monitor. One year it’s $200k, the next it’s $20k, with no rhyme or reason other than the market. I’ve reached a point where I value stability and a high base. My current boss was shocked I stayed, but I’d rather have a guaranteed $180k than a maybe $300k. Am I getting old and boring?

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)

2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for

I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.
