The market is very hot in the PI world on both sides of the v. Do your homework on the firms because it can make or break your experience.
I did exactly this a year ago. We should definitely talk. Message me.
If you are coming from biglaw and/or have a good pedigree, you shouldn’t have any trouble. It makes the firm look good. The firm will assume that you are smart enough to pick it up quickly. Just make sure that you go to a premier plaintiff firm where they respect intellect and are willing to teach you/invest in you. A small or run of the mill office may not have the time or resources to do that.
Where do you practice ? What side of personal injury do you want to do?
Thank you! Will do.
I love PI work and don’t think I’ll ever change. Happy to chat as well, I went from non profit to general practice to strictly PI and moved from East Coast to West Coast and now practice in Washington. The biggest question you’ll get asked and the biggest concern having assisted on the hiring at multiple firms is a) transferable skills b) Why PI? c) Are you committed to PI in the long term, because firms don’t want to train you to start all over again
5% of the firm’s fee. And if there is a referring attorney (which their often is) my fee gets cut. For example, if a case settles for 300k, that would be 100k in fees, my cut would be 5% which is 5k. But if there is an attorney that referred the case they get 1/3 of the attorney fee, which now means my firm collects 66.7k. I get 5% of what my firm gets. Additionally, I get 8% on verdicts.
