I think as a student I can’t directly reply to comments - but as a response to someone assuming lower grades - I actually have a pretty solid GPA and have started networking at other places too. I just assumed increasing the number of channels to network would be a good idea.

Good luck, I know my capital markets team is done hiring (usually done early fall) but maybe some will appear in mid Jan

Honestly you should probably be asking your careers office, upper years or alumni, especially since it’s close to summer recruiting time for these firms. Not sure how asking on Fishbowl is a better use of time, especially since that signals likely lower grades for oncampus recruiting.

Making a lot of money relative to the average but feeling poor? Median after-tax income was ~$55,000 in 1981 and was ~$73,000 in 2020. Using a Bank of Canada inflation calculator $55,000 in 1981 is equivalent to ~$165,000 today, which would put someone in the top 10% of earners today. But in 1981 the median family had that extra money. Who can I blame?

New to Toronto, moved to the west end of town/ just past - in Etobicoke. I celebrate my 40th a few days after NYE/NYD - would love some recommendations on moderately priced but nice ambiance restaurants for myself + husband, and my extended family. Everyone is scattered throughout (Hamilton, Barrie, Lyle, Newmarket, North York). Don’t want anything too fancy but don’t really know where or what is good and not downtown.

Any recommendations? (Open to GTA of course).

Hi! I have worked in management roles in tech, mainly in analytics, for approximately 10 years. My TC has fluctuated (currently around 135K CAD), but it seems like it's relatively easy to breach the 100K bar, but hard to breach the 150K bar. I now work at the CBC, but I have worked in the private sector too. What is the most realistic way to move to 200K? 1) Continue moving the ladder to a VP position, 2) Switch to Pre-Sale, 3) Switch to Consulting, 4) Work from a U.S. company from Canada.
