Look for a new one. PIPs are just warnings.
As someone who was blinded-sided with a PIP 7 years ago? Document document document. CYA - cover ya …
There are rare cases, where teams mean well and they genuinely want you to do better. But most of the time, a manager’s mind is already made up and will take the first chance they get to push you out.
Don’t go above and beyond to ‘save your job.’ Start looking for a new one, good luck OP!!
I’m sorry. You’re already out of a gig. They’re trying to build a case for firing with cause to avoid a proper exit package. Fight to at least make it a layoff with severance, and you can collect unemployment insurance right away vs waiting. When the time comes if you’re at a larger place try to negotiate for a few months of subsidized insurance at your current rate. So sorry.
Agreed with SS1. Document everything. If they’re considering a layoff, finding “cause” to fire someone is a tactic to avoid paying severance. Document every bit of feedback you’ve gotten leading up to this so if they fire you, you can walk into your next job interview with evidence to protect yourself.
Look for a new one ASAP honestly the plan is never for you to improve. It’s just to get you out.
Does the feedback feel do-able? Or does it feel like there’s no coming back?
