I was laid off—not because of bad performance, footfall, a high package, lack of scope, long tenure, or any other typical reason. I was let go because, for the past four years, I was honest in my pulse surveys, which impacted the overall organization and especially my Director’s pulse score.

I was honest, and this is the result. Of course, corporate culture doesn't always like honesty, but being true to myself matters to me most of all.
I would definitely applaud you but remember to get success Even gandhiji was not true himself, i would bet in the history of mankind no one was successful for the principal of being true to them- self,the end goal matters 💗 it is fine ever time following lord ram principles(fictional) wont make you win
i am not laid off but i am not agreed with how these layoffs happened. Full of politics and favouritism. VZI need to layoff upper management then everything will be go smoother

This is an alarming post. Thanks for being open about it and spreading this. Though I am not part of vz anymore, it still ticks me to keep quiet or cliche about pulse survey. These kind of surveys are common across many companies. Thank you. Whenever they say anonymous, it's never anonymous. I am doubting oneday, I will also be ready easily just paying few bucks to fish bowl

Something similar happened with in VBG , my manager targeted me because i gave him less points in pulse . Lousy HR doesn’t take any action on this
Sorry to know you were also on the same boat. I did my best to exculate this is many forum no one gave a proper solutions or changed it. Don't know how @Verizon listing to the customers and resolve there problems.

Op, that's what I mentioned you don't sound like you are worried and also quoted it's normal and you can get a good job sooner if you are talented enough....
And for the reason your perspective is logical, but your people leader would have had a very tough time to cut you if you are true... You can't just be fired based on performance as he needs to explain himself to his leaders, the rationale everything.
Same happened with me in VBG, I have given comments in the pulse survey which my manager discussed with us in group call and each individual. Also questioned regarding the process slowness and dependency with onsite during skip levels. Then why the survey is for.
Submitted laptop today. I think we all got survived from the sinking ship before it sank 😊
It's never been. The Manager and above can see it based on location and the band which can give them fair idea to know who is stapping them and reason for less survey score. VZI Leaders just worried about survey results and nothing else..

In general these surveys are used to either understand mood of employees about the company and their leadership across multiple functions. They call these surveys as anonymous, but one should never trust even if you are working in a good healthy environment. There are always toxic and greed people among us who will do anything for their survival.
That's so true. Even when you are unhappy and having a conflict with your manager or recently had heated argument or what ever never share with your co workers. People are so eager to know about it that means they are going to put you under the bus.

Yes. Same happened with Marketing Platform team as well. Full of politics and favouritism. AD and Sr.Manager saving their pets and punished honest resources. Only ADs close circle gets all benefits.
