This might be illegal.
Would you be able to expand on this part? I’m pretty upset about it honestly, if it was actually illegal I would want to know what I could do.
The odd thing is, we’re a really good team, transparent about our strengths and weaknesses. Open and direct communicators. 4 meetings and you’d be able to tell where we’re at without a test.
This is weird. Trying to sub proper management with psycho-babel. It’s like someone who knows nothing about creative and marketing trying to do a reorg. Anyway, sounds messy and that quite a few people are about to leave. Good luck with it.
Just angry at the test, not the reorg. I’m also just in a reactive stage rn , maybe things will feel different next week.
At previous jobs if you wanted to move up it’s based on current performance, past experience and manager being able to make a judge of character on the emotional intelligence front.
IS THIS TYPE OF TEST NORMAL? It feels so frustrating, our team is very easy to read, the test just feels like a playing games, esp since every questions a trick question and that the quiz will be on the last 6 months of our weekly 1 hr trainings which MOST of us can’t make due to the urgency/meetings of our actual work.
When I was job hunting with some of the larger companies I had to take an IQ test and then take it live via zoom with a recruiter. They use this strategy to weed out bad applicants, but in reality, the company was complete shit.
I think that they have a right to test you. What is legal or illegal, I don’t know.
In one of the startups I had worked at a VP got passed for C-Suite role because he didn’t have an MBA, which is dumb. This person is more than competent to lead the org.
At the end of the day, they can pretty much do whatever to make you jump through hoops
