Unfortunately it’s everywhere you look… if you leave, how can you help in being the counterculture by spreading hope and culture of life?
I would love to be more vocal at work and gather with more Catholics, but I feel we are so outnumbered. Do not lose hope! The word is alive. DM me if you work at Deloitte. I would love to create a Catholic Teams channel to help spread positivity and be a witness to Christ to others!
2 Timothy 3:1–4
Godlessness in the Last Days
3 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, alovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
Thanks for this. I do not work for Deloitte but have thought about creating a Catholic Teams channel at my firm, too.
I’m not vocal at work at all. Feels like my thinking on these issues is most unwelcome. I do try to pray for the people I meet who are swept up in this stuff.
I also appreciate the verse from Timothy. There’s a lot of good encouragement in the NT Letters.
Thanks for responding. It’s nice to know there are other Catholics wrestling with the same challenges.
Just a PSA that Christ hung out with sinners of all kinds all the time.
I think it's important to stand your ground and not participate in bs activities. Most of the people disagree with such policies but are not courageous enough for telling it
Very true! Which breaks my heart even more. I’ve been going deeper and deeper into my faith and into Church teachings lately and I am always blown away by the wisdom there. Ever ancient, ever new. So many people are hurting these days and don’t know where to turn and i just want to toss them a Bible and a catechism so bad! The answers are there!
My firm has an abortion fund, it’s tough
Woof. My company also funds the travel, but I don’t think we go so far as to have an actual “fund” for abortions. Man, that’s tough to stomach.
I've come to know through prayer and my personal relationship with God that God placed me in my firm to evangelize and bring others to Christ. There are a lot of lost souls in our line of work, giving their worship to money or other earthly things. I speak of my faith often and encourage people who struggle at work or open up about their personal lives to me read the scriptures. Sometimes, the Wisdom books work really well for people in this line of work as they tend to be intellectual. As for yourself, the best way to understand your purpose is to converse with God and ask Him to command you to do His will. It's scary how quickly it's revealed if you truly want that grace.
I really appreciate your answer. I had been feeling this way lately - less about evangelizing and more about praying for the people I come across through work because they probably have nearly no one to pray for them. For example, I was on a call about parental benefits not too long ago and I thought it’d be about maternity leave, breast pump, etc., but it was mostly about IVF and people’s experiences hiring a surrogate. I have felt very compelled to pray for people I come across through things like this.
Agreed, there are so many lost souls in our line of work!
How do you find people react when you speak of your faith? I do not often bring mine up but wonder if I should.
