I work with a nurse who shuts down completely if she perceives any attitude from me. Like full-on silent treatment the rest of the shift. She's really close with our charge, so I feel stuck just tiptoeing around her. Does anyone else experience this?

Then dont giver her attitude😂

Why give attitude???

Amen to that! But there’s always those nurses that think they’re the best you can get and they give an attitude. We had Charge Nurses that would be a nightmare to work under.
SO THANKFUL to be out of that bullying profession, but I did it for almost 40 years.
Hard enough work without having co-workers that have an attitude.

Find a new job! This is the toxic environment I just left!! I was always the problem.

Are you actually giving attitude or does she just assume you are giving attitude. I guess I would start to question my tone and whether or not she had a reason to act like that.

like

Absolutely. Navigating difficult personalities is such a hard part of the job. Sometimes it feels like it's even harder than caring for the patients. I usually just try to ignore it, especially if I didn't do anything wrong. If I did do something wrong, I try to acknowledge it directly.

Maybe u wouldn’t have to tip toe around if you stay cool.

Comforting others:
When someone tells me bad news regarding their health, I say everything I am supposed to say (I’m sorry to hear that, I’m here for you, etc) EXCEPT “everything is going to be ok”. Because I can’t guarantee that and I really don’t know if everything is going to be ok. I was taken aback recently when a friend told me I am calloused and cold-hearted for not being able to say those words. Is she right? Should I start saying this for the purposes of providing comfort only??
