That number is wholistic. If you look at the demographics for engineers say 30 and younger it’s much more equal. Many of those initiatives weren’t in full swing for other generations of female engineers
There’s some interesting studies that show women leave engineering in greater numbers than men. After getting their degree and after working 5-8 years in the industry. It’s still not a welcoming space for most women.
Eve still. I don’t see as many young women engineers over here. I think that we’re headed in the right direction as far as inclusivity but the engineering field is much more male dominant, however I do see more women in engineering management positions
As a woman and engineer myself, I think that the post secondary initiatives to attract women in STEM are there, but the companies’ initiatives to RETAIN women when entering the workplace can improve.
