If you were gifted or won a large lump sum of money and planned to invest it, would you take the dollar cost average approach of investing it in smaller amounts over time, or would you just throw it all into the market immediately?

Statistically cumulative market returns are greater when investing a lump sum versus dollar cost averaging… but it also has larger drawdowns…

But if I won $500M… $450M is going in… $50M goes to savings and spending… so it really wouldn’t matter what happens in the market for at least a few years… unless your a dumb dumb and give money to every Tom, Dick and Harry… or the ladies of the night…

Throw it all in immediately. I'm too impatient for anything else, if I'm being totally honest lol.

I would be cautious about putting to much of it in all at once. The market has had a crazy ride uphill since April, and while I hope the bulls are right and things keep rising, I don't think that can happen. I'd prefer to come up with a schedule for putting money in, as there's a good chance some of what you could buy on Monday will be cheaper in a month. It could go the other way, of course, as nobody knows anything, but you might as well protect your windfall.

I think this is what has me nervous to just dump it all in. Everything is eerily high right now.

I’d throw it all in straight away honestly

Bitcoin. Jk

Big chunks over time

I’d invest in SPY and T-bills over time.

"People just want it to work" is a thing clients have said about the product the company I work for makes. It's true. And it's all over. I usually think it's because Agile's method is what everyone thinks works but so much stuff across all tech areas seems to be released broken and then never fixed or fixed way too slowly. Anyone else feel this way? Has Agile worked for you and your clients?

Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?
