You can lose weight and tone up your body through weights.
Running isn’t the end all, be all to slim down.
85% of it will be diet (caloric intake vs deficit) and 15% of it is exercise.
You’ll probably burn similar amounts of calories running vs lifting for 30 mins, an hour, etc.
It also depends on what your goal of “slimming down” is.
Is it arbitrary numbers on a scale?
Is it waist size?
Is “slimming down” a euphemism for being healthier?
It’s also not one size fits all for fitness.
You’ve gotta figure out your ultimate goal of what “slimming down” means, as well as your diet + exercise regimen.
What works for X person doesn’t work for Y person and certainly might not work for Z person, and may not benefit you either.
So keep that in mind.
I use a scale for my meat and rice.
But it’s not absolutely necessary.
I also use my health benefits for a monthly appt with my friend who’s a licensed nutritionist/RD
Agree with the above. I try to do a mix of aerobic cardio (keeping my heart rate in the 60-70% of max range) and strength training. Strength training is generally as good for short term calorie burn as most cardio, with the added plus that being tone makes you appear thinner and every pound of muscle requires additional calories for upkeep, making reaching a calorie deficit easier
Anything that’s high intensity internal training will help you shed pounds
Lift weights. I know I used to only thing was cardio but it’s not
Also there is a calculator to tell you what zone your heart rate when you exercise to help lose weight
I’d incorporate strength training, but also see an RD, NOT a nutritionist. I learned quickly there is a difference. Seeing an RD has helped me significantly.
Things such as counting macros isn’t sustainable for life, which is something I tried, but it became all consuming. I literally carried a scale with me and looked like a drug dealer lol
