If you’re in big law and wouldn’t mind sharing: How much ball park is your monthly premium for health insurance if your plan covers you, spouse and kids? I work in a smaller midsize firm and it’s 1/3 of my pay. That doesn’t even include copays for all of the doctors and specialists. Considering making the switch to big law, even though WLB will be worse, if it’s less of an expense.

Many firms these days seem to cover a lot of the health insurance premiums for the employee only and very little for the rest of the family. I’m sure you’ve checked your spouse’s employer’s plan and compared prices for covering your children. You may also want to check whether a marketplace plan would be more economical for your spouse + kids. The trouble with jumping to biglaw is that you’ll never know in the interview/offer stage exactly what your family health insurance cost will be.

Yes, exactly. Husband’s plan is worse and marketplace is based on income so also worse unfortunately plus the quality is better under our plan it’s just so expensive. Worse than childcare.

Wow that’s pretty high. I’m at a boutique firm and they cover 95% of our premium. I have a fairly low deductible of $800 I think. Thankfully I’m in good health and haven’t had to use it much.

My boutique just covers my premium and we have pretty nice insurance (like $5 copay for my husband’s hip replacement nice), but I’m not paid all that well

I think if i put my husband and kids on it would be around 1k/month for the high deductible plan.

And I don’t think BL is always worse WLB. Depends on practice group and location big time.

like

About 1200 a month.

Mine is also $1.2k for a family of 5. I think the deductible is 5k and co-pays are zero for telehealth and $40 for GP in-person and specialist.

Remember sometimes a little higher at law firms because you are paying the premium of the partners. Individually it should be about $1200 a month for a somewhat decent plan depending on your ages.

Including my spouse and 2 kids, it is $2600 per month.

Including spouse and kids, I pay $2100/month

Really struggling with a few students in my kindergarten class this year and looking for suggestions. I've been teaching K for 10 of the 16 years I've been a teacher, and have never felt as disrespected by students as I do this year. Several students continually talk, yell, and laugh over me, or make noises when I am talking. They are sent away from the group to reset and make a better choice, but usually continue when they return. Parent contact has been supportive, but hasn't helped.

Hi all! I currently work remotely for an agency based in St Louis. I’ve enjoyed working with their clients, specifically their tourism and other smaller, in-state clients. However, they limit me on the amount of work I am given with these clients since I do not live in that area/state. Does anyone know if there are agencies in Houston that focus on Houston/Texas tourism and/or other smaller clients? Not really searching for a job yet. More so causally browsing at options in TX that interest me.

Joining in lti is virtual or we have to go office on that day and how is first week planned. Like some kind of full day induction or what?
